Acknowledgment says: "You matter to me and I believe in you". It is a powerful and profoundly easy way to heal our society. It begins with our children, our families and then extends out to the people living and working with us in our community. Acknowledgment is easy to do, and to make a difference we must embrace opportunities life offers us to do so.

I am honored to have been the photographer for this movie as well as having the priviledge of working with the wonderful student/adult actors in this movie. The actors were real students, teachers and parents. They did an amazing job! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sN_LPTNQEqM

Months ago I talked about a new makeup artist / hairstylist that I wanted to work with. Lucky me! she's become available to work with me on a regular basis. I'm also helping her build a portfolio book of her work. This past couple of weeks we've worked on a few projects. I've also picked up about a dozen new models. Here are a few of my new models with hair and makeup by Stephanie. I am looking forward to working more with her. She's extremely creative and full of idea's. She's energetic, bubbly, great with the models and has become a 2nd pair of hands during the shoots. This girl KICKS ASS. She'll be graduating from school this summer and is hoping to make a go of it in the modeling world. I think she's got a great chance at making her dreams come true. I've cropped the images below so you can see Stephanies work.

This made me laugh silly. Now I can't get it out of my head!!!
I've had my Canon 20D since summer of 2005. It's been a great camera and was my first semi-pro DSLR. From what I've read the 20D's shutter cycle durability was rated at 100,000. I've met and exceeded that number with very few problems. I love it so much I've thought about just replacing the shutter. The camera is still going strong, but I know that it won't be for long at my current rate of shooting.
I've been watching the Canon DSLR roll outs for a while. I'm a drooling slob with each new camera the last couple of years. Besides the 5D which was out of my budget, the first one that really caught my attention was the 40D. I've been watching the reviews closely and I made my mind up to finally upgrade. I've had my finger on the buy button more than once. But then I always hesitate and rethink it.
Rumors have been flying for quite a while about an upgrade on the 5D. Two things have been on my mind in regards to the rumors. First was the newer technology and second was how much would the price would drop on the current model with a new 5D release. I've never been one to need the bigger, better, brighter stuff and cost is a big part of my equation. Speculation and rumors had been flying about an upgrade announcement at PMA . It didn't happen. Speculation now runs rampant about a possible announcement at Photokina. Even with an autumn announcement of the 5D upgrade, it could be 2009 before it's available.
What's a girl to do.... ?
Do I wait until my 20D is laid down to rest in peace or the possibility a 5D upgrade will be here some day? Hmmmm, I think it's time to give my baby a rest and upgrade while it still has enough spunk left to be a hand me down. It could use some TLC. Becoming a gettyimages contributor had a lot to do with my decision. While the 40D meets the spec's for istock/getty contributions, it also leaves very little room to play. It's been a tough decision for me to make, but with the cost drop over the last year my 5D is in the mail. At least I'll still get to visit my 20D since the hubby is going to love it for me.
Sometimes we all need a little inspiration. Making a difference in peoples lives is something that should be done 365 days a year. I was honored this last year to be included in a special project by Mary Robinsion Reynolds. Having the pleasure of getting to personally correspond with Mary, I found her to be an amazing woman full of love and hope If you need a pick me up or a feel better moment please check out one of her her websites. Her movies and her inspiration can be found at http://www.makeadifference.com/
Oh! and by the way, for those of you istockers out there, she uses a lot of istock images. Who knows you might find one of yours there too.
Finally got a cool reason to post. Received my Getty Images email this morning.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!" - Author Unknown
I love this saying and this woman. My mom is one of my most favorite people in the world! What a champ. Thanks mom for both modeling and having the patience with me while I figured out how to set up all the lighting by myself today. It may be late in the season but I'm glad we got to play with the Mrs. Claus series today. xox
